Do you know how many times I’ve been afraid of making mistakes? Many, indeed almost always.
Almost all of us have been trained to act in order not to make mistakes, otherwise everything is ruined.
This fear of failure has been instilled in us since early childhood due to overly protective parents or an environment
As we grow, this negative belief enters the subconscious and we do not even notice that it exists, becoming our normal way of operating.
Somewhere along the way, so we took a wrong path. We have learned to believe that mistakes are to be avoided like the plague.
You must be perfect in whatever you do!
But you know what?
This unconscious belief is perhaps killing your progress of OKR.
I tell you that you should never be afraid of making mistakes.
Not being afraid to make mistakes is one of the successful strategies in life and work.
Imagine being able to do anything in the world without feeling fear or any negative feeling whatsoever.
Overcoming the fear of failure is not easy, but you can succeed, especially if you are determined to go to the next level.
Let’s see how.
Every mistake is a springboard to success
Almost always the great successes have been made possible failure after failure, through the lessons that have been learned from such errors.
In reality every experience of your life can be seen in this way.
If for example you get fired from your job, you can have two choices.
You can decide that you are a failure, or you can decide that there is no failure but only a learning of a new experience or situation.
Whenever you find yourself in a difficult situation, always ask yourself the same question: “What did I learn? What can I learn from this? ”
You too, like me, how many times have you been afraid of making mistakes and for this reason, you have decided not to do what you wanted to do?
Surely, you did it more than once!
Many people miss so many great opportunities, because they are afraid that things can go wrong.
If you read or learn about the paths of successful people (or organizations), you will find that there have been many mistakes before. They help to straighten the shot before reaching the goal through OKRs.
Whenever you look for something new, you might make some mistakes.
Every mistake is a springboard to increase learning a little more.
You can’t know everything that will happen when you look for something new: all you have to do is try, before you can learn from the mistake made.
Making mistakes, therefore, is good as long as you learn from them, obviously repeating them is bad.
If there is something you have a burning desire to do, don’t let the fear of making a mistake pull you back.
Naturally if what you are trying to do is dangerous for life or career, I advise you to take every possible precaution to avoid, however, to make mistakes, removing reckless and destructive actions and plan your goal with OKR Software.
Unfortunately, the messages we receive from others, parents, friends, colleagues, the boss, the media, can play an unfavorable role especially when there is constant pressure to improve our performance.
Being a bit afraid of making a mistake can be a good thing, because it creates the right tension to pay attention to what you do, helps you plan goals and can help improve your performance.
Excessive fear, however, can create problems of psychological blockage, of procrastination or of remaining in a comfort zone.
Six reasons to appreciate the positivity of errors
Below are six good reasons that explain what you derive from making positive mistakes.
- They help you to really find out who you are, because if you never made mistakes, you could never find out about your talents or lack of them.
- They teach you valuable life lessons, discovering a way to learn what is not working and to stop continuing on that path that leads nowhere or to the wrong place.
- They teach you to forgive yourself and others, perceiving that perfection does not really exist, in fact it can be negative, since ultimately it does not allow you room for improvement.
- They free you from the fear of experiencing life, realizing that living it fully is not avoiding mistakes, but growing by learning from them.
- They teach you that without errors there is no growth, because you could remain still and inactive only because you are afraid of making mistakes;
- They teach you to be humble, allowing you to keep your ego under control, fueling your desire to be a little better and remembering that your growth, to be such, must never end.
Since we are all human beings, we will continue and continue to make mistakes.
Remember that when mistakes are made, neither the sky will fall nor the world will stop: only then will you be able to laugh at yourself whenever you make mistakes.
Therefore, success does not mean making fewer mistakes. It only means to recover the road faster or more easily, after you have discovered and learned the twists and turns of the path.
The events that happen to you, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what you have to learn, while all the measures you take are necessary to reach the places where you have chosen to go.
